Jim Halpert has made a lot of faces over the years. I mean, loads.
On Wednesday, I was part of a conference call with John Krasinski and Greg Daniels, to promote the finale of The Office. But, as happens on overbooked calls with likeable talent, I didn’t get to ask my questions. Of course, during the course I got to provide some quickly published coverage and broke the story online about B.J. Novak appearing in the finale (Mindy Kaling will, too), as well as serious plans for the finale to go slightly over an hour and for a retrospective with cast auditions to air. I also got to listen to John and Greg talk so fondly about their years with the show. And I even got to hear The Office Talley get some straight-from-the-heart thank-you’s from both John and Greg. (I’m a big fan of dedication being rewarded!)
Of course, I had three questions in deck – two of which I was hoping to ask. And since these weren’t asked, I’m sharing them. Now, I’m not putting them into the void thinking the PR agents are going to contact me so I can get the answers. Rather, I think two of these questions are ones that fans deserve to answer, too. And the final one, well, I can provide some illumination on it!
Question One
There have been a lot of great visuals of Jim Halpert over the years – from seeing him dressed as Dwight in a mustard shirt, to sweetly sharing earbuds with Pam. If you could pick just a few freeze frame images of Jim to go along with a biography of him, what would you pick?
Fans, what visual image of Jim Halpert do you think should be attached to an official biography for the character?
Question Two
This is for both of you: I say ‘Dunder Mifflin’ and you think ” “?
Fans, what do you think of with this word association trick? I think I summon up “paper!” pretty fast.
Question Three
This is for both of you. And Greg, you’ve touched on this now. After the finale airs, will you be online looking at internet chatter and reviews?
Fans, I can tell you that Greg for sure reads online stuff, like at The Office Talley. For Krasinski, I don’t know. But…who cares! If you’ve got feelings and thoughts, you deserve to share them with other fans of The Office.
P.S. Greta Gerwig (who is wackily adorable, but also seems really smart) was on Late Night with Jimmy Kimmel, talking about what big fans of The Office her parents are. Well, I just want to give a public shout-out to Christine Gerwig and Gordon Gerwig. You both seem awesome, and I hope that some day you get to meet Steve Carell, Ed Helms, Creed Bratton, Jenna Fischer, Rainn Wilson, Angela Kinsey, Ellie Kemper… all of them! Or at least one. Guys, we’ve gotta make Greta Gerwig’s parents happy becuause it’ll prove the world isn’t such a bad place, and we all really just want to help each other be happy…and stuff! IT IS SYMBOLIC.
The Office season finale airs this May 2013 on NBC.
